Children generally play hard and with great imagination during the day and they hope to have wonderful dreams when sleep enters their heads. This story is about Elannah and Sam as they close their eyes and enter a fantastic dream where each owns a bicycle that allows them to fly. They travel to a land where brightly colored fireworks turns into chocolate candy and makes animated images. A parrot narrates a scene where two pirate ships and their crews at first clash and then everyone makes nice. They also have a confrontation with an "evil" troll that turns out to be grumpy because he is starved for affection and attention. Therefore, while there are some of the characters of childhood nightmares, none are threatening or scary in any way.
This book is literally a flight of the imagination; children often get on their bikes and imagine that they are traveling to another place. Of course, anything turning into chocolate candy is by definition a good fantasy, one that children will find enjoyable.

'Of Lights in the Night' takes the reader on a magical bicycle ride to an imaginary place full of curious creatures and tantalizing tales. Adults and children will enjoy Noonan's playful use of words, and the illustrations by his young daughter (also a lead character in the book) not only enhanced the text beautifully but made my own children want to illustrate books too! Very enjoyable. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

This is a "Fantastical" book which we would highly recommend for children of all ages. It has adventure, excitement and wonderful descriptions which will fire any child's imagination. Parents and Grandparents will love reading this book to young children. The children in the book are so real that you can practically see Sam doing his martial arts and Elannah dancing. Rodger the badger, Arnold the dwarf, the twelve toed ugly troll and Grumphspawn - what a wonderful name - complete the great variety of characters. This is an excellent first book by Sean Noonan. We wish him every success and eagerly await the next one.

This book is one of the best children's books I have ever read! It is a wonderful story about a brother and sister and their adventures in the land of their dreams. I loved the colourful characters and their cheeky personalities. The story is based around a series of magical fireworks, with a twist, and the imagination that conjured them up is truly amazing. It is certainly a book that will enthral children and is a perfect read for all the family.
Enjoy Everyone
